1. What is it?
Patently Obvious is a new range of personal cleaning products, including hand washes, shower gels and a hand sanitiser. Made without compromise, this is the first range of products that combines a SLES and paraben free environmentally-friendly biodegradable formulation, with natural ingredients that work brilliantly, in a stunning pack design that you'll be proud to have in your home.
2. Why is it called Patently Obvious?
Because it simply is patently obvious we all need to consider the impact we are having upon the environment and our planet. We need to consider what we are putting on our skin and what we are washing down the drain, but without (obviously) compromising on the cleansing performance or the look of the product.
3. Why is it any better than products currently on the market?
Patently Obvious is tough on germs yet utilises a natural, antibacterial action. It is significantly milder on your skin than its competitors (in clinical tests it was significantly milder than a leading baby shampoo) and is free of parabens and preservatives.
4. What is it made from?
The Patently Obvious formula is primarily made from a blend of natural and naturally derived ingredients. It does contain some synthetics but we are working hard on how we can remove these too. A lot of brands in the market place make very strong 'claims' about their natural content however they are stretching the truth somewhat. We are taking the honest approach.
5. What does Natural, Naturally derived and Synthetic actually mean?
This isn't straightforward and not everyone seems to play fair on this but it should go as follows: Natural: Ingredients that exist uniquely in nature and have only been processed by physical means i.e. they have not had things 'added' to them in processing or been changed by the process.
Naturally Derived: Ingredients that originated from a natural source with no significant change in the structure by the use of synthetic or petrochemical ingredients. For example, they started off as natural materials; they have been processed and changed slightly by the processing but not 'significantly' and they have not had anything added to them.
Synthetic: Products that are produced synthetically, sometimes from a blend of other ingredients which are reacted together.
6. What about your Plastic Bottles?
Patently Obvious bottles are made from 100% PCR (post consumer recycled) plastic - in a past life they were probably fizzy drink bottles or the like! They are also 100% recyclable for when you have finished with them.
7. Do you test your products on animals?
We use no animal or animal derived ingredients in our products and certainly do not test on animals.
8. Where is it made?
Patently Obvious is made; bottled and sold only within the UK we believe in keeping fuel miles to a minimum and unlike other products we do not believe products should be flown all over the world in harshly polluting aeroplanes.
9. Where can I buy it?
The first range of Patently Obvious products are available now both in major Boots stores throughout the UK and online from shave.com/store
10. The packaging looks unusual - where does that come from?
We were inspired by memories of our school science lessons, so the packaging is all based on flasks and bottles used by chemists. It's a slightly ironic take on the fact that the product itself is so natural, but more importantly we think it looks great!
