Here at Patnetly Obvious we appreciate a lot of you will be heading off on your summer holidays over the next few weeks and so here's a few top tips to enjoy your holiday without it being at the expense of the environment, it's like Patently Obvious really; enjoyment and indulgence which doesn't have to cost the earth.

Opt not to have your hotel linens and towels laundered daily wherever you stay. This will save both water and energy.

When on holiday try and take part in activities which don't rely on coaches, motor boats and cars instead take a kayak tour or an organized trek or walk.

When making flight plans, think about buying credits to offset your carbon emissions. Or best yet, take a train; passenger train travel is one of the most eco-friendly ways to see the world.

Make sure you turn of and unplug TV's lights and other household electrical equipment before you go, don't leave TV's on standby or microwaves ready to be used.

Use electronic, not paper, tickets when booking transportation or events. Electronic tickets generate less waste and cost less to replace.
